World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to boost the gear rating of an item by up 700 points, and then give it a bonus. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory before heading to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like an ideally broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) and others, like weapons, do not vary greatly post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats like the chance to crit, attack damage as well as PvE and damage from PvP. Weapons have a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. In addition some weapons come with a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a unit. This bonus may be more than the damage that a weapon upgrade can do on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity and current level. For instance, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while an upgrade of +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue to increase until it is required to use an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.
Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. While this is usually an excellent thing however, it could have negative effects as well. Upgrades can make items unusable, unless you are exceptionally lucky.
Items of armor can also be upgraded to boost their performance. In the case of chests or helms it will boost its defense base while a belt and gloves will enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it may reduce its value.
The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats that it will gain when upgraded and their respective values. This means that the weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will strike 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button on the item menu, using the circling arrows. The item will be rerolled and change its stats, however, it will not reset the weapon's level nor connect to the status of your account.
Armor
A few armor upgrades can make the world of difference in your ability to survive. Full Post provide massive increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which makes the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. In general, the greater defense you have on your character, the more health you can receive from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor.
To upgrade your armor, go to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game and in order to unlock them all, you must complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels and the amount of materials and Rupees required for each level will differ. It is possible to use anything from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the first armor piece, and between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. For example the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep pace with a good-sized group of enemies in the majority of cold climates, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, granting you enough protection to survive an entire raid with a handful of friends.
It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll want to concentrate on upgrading it to gain physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It is also recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you'll still be wearing by the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you wear in the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town, you can unlock some perks on your armor. You'll typically want to keep these upgrades to the weapon that you'll use to win the game. For example, the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have some upgrades for the helmets and chest armor so that you can sneak around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are bottled substances that, if consumed, provide the user with the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five different types of potions, each having specific effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, enhancing their effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by adding glowstone dust and redstone.
Potion upgrades cost a specific amount of XP. This can be earned by crafting them using a craft table or in an chest of the Alchemist. However, the cost of upgrading changes depending on what type of potion you want to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level as well as its rarity.
To upgrade a potion you need to right-click it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open a GUI that lets you choose the potion that you wish to upgrade, and the amount of experience they'll give you when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at a time, and their XP will be added to the total XP you currently have.
Once a poton is upgraded in quality, it will not deteriorate in the event that you use it again or break the bottle within which it is kept. You can also rename the potion by clicking it in your inventory.
Version 1.7.2 introduced a few modifications to the way potions are used. Splash potions for instance, now have a duration zero, not the 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display of the item. The potion table is now made of four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons like Java Edition. Additionally, using a potentio on a full cauldron, it drains the contents and replenishes the bottle.
Lastly, there are now lingering potions, which are made using splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone can also be added to lingering potions to enhance their effect. The potion table is now organized more closely to the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as potion of leaping, potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is a small, inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also be a small ornament or object that serves a purpose, but isn't important such as a Thimble. In some cultures, a trinket is used to symbolize affection or friendship, specifically between family members.
Trinkets can be upgraded by players in addition to weapons and armor, as well as potions. Upgrades can be obtained by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets, unlike other items that can be upgraded, can be traded at will without losing stats.
Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are bought with tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.
Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to buying a new trinket. One can upgrade a trinket for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the previous trinket but it also comes with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded once they are not needed which allows a player to boost their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players and are a popular alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most important items first. This usually means the best-in-slot items for their class, then their secondaries, and finally other items of gear they won't replace soon (for instance, a ring or cloak). When choosing which items to upgrade players should also take into account their class's preferred statistics. For instance, if Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tankers, they should prioritize upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and chest.
Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher ilvl after they no longer have value, and the new trinket will have an additional upgrade bonus of 1. A re-upgrade, however, can cause damage to the trinket unless it is salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still cheaper than purchasing the new one.
